In October, we received a message from the NHK Japan office for Latin America in Mexico City and they told us that there was a TV Tokyo team interested in doing a report in the Peruvian jungle. After the excellent experience with NHK 2024, we were more than willing to support this project.
This time it was about searching for and finding students from schools in rural areas, preferably in the Amazon, who had to travel long distances daily to be able to go and return to their schools. The program would be called “Great Distances” and the condition was that the students had to cover at least 2 hours on their route and if it involved rivers and trails, the better.
The search was not so easy so just 7 days before the team’s arrival, we carried out a scouting trip to the area of interest to corroborate times, distances, local actors and services and to be able to define, against the clock, the locations for filming. After scouting we were able to structure the schedule and make the final logistical coordination for the success of the trip.
The date of the trip arrived and thanks to the support and good disposition of teachers, students and community members, the TV Tokyo team achieved the desired shots as planned. Thanks to our new friends in the hamlets of Nuevo Paino and San José de Yanashi, to the teachers and assistants and of course to all the students of the school. Thanks also to the friends from Nova TV who accompanied the team. We look forward to seeing the edited program soon. Arigato gozaimasu!!!
